VP After-Sales Service
Title: VP After-Sales Service
Started at Brunvoll: 1988
What is your position at Brunvoll AS?
I started out as an apprentice in Brunvoll in 1988, and completed my Certificate of Apprenticeship here. My big dream was to travel the world as a Service Technician, and this was my job for many years. In 1997 I started in the Service Administration, and 18 years later I am the manager of the Service Department and VP for After-Sales Service.
What does a ”normal day” look like for you?
Even though I am not a Service Technician anymore, I still travel a lot in my position. The travel is primarily to worldwide trade fairs and client meetings, but there are still some service missions once in a while – once a service man, always a service man.
I enjoy being the first one to arrive to the office in the morning. Then I get to chat with everyone as they come in, before they get on with their everyday routines. There is also a lot of administrative work, such as meetings and internal reporting. I normally make a plan for the day, but with over 8000 functioning thusters in the world, that plan often has to change when something urgent happens somewhere in the world.
Why are you a part of Team Brunvoll?
I think when you are young, it is quite random where you start out your career. With that said, I am really happy that I ended up at Brunvoll and that they had a position for me. I immediately became very fond of Brunvoll, that back when I started working was only a ”motor factory” on the shore of Molde. I respected the way Brunvoll was run, with focus on long term quality and the communication internally between leaders and employees. You were allowed to express your opinion and to give honest feedback – and they listened to you and made you feel like you had some kind of influence on the way things were being done.
Many things have happened since then, and Brunvoll has spent a lot of time to educate people about who we are and what we do – both locally and internationally. We have become a company that many people would like to have their career, and I would be the first one to recommend them to be a part of our team – it is a great place to be.
What has changed in 27 years?
When I started there were only 8-10 Service Technicians and 3 people working in the administration. In comparison; today we are 40 Service Technicians and about 20 people working in the administration seated in Molde. The company has grown a great deal. One of the strenghts that I really admire in Brunvoll, is our leaders’ ability to think long-term.
We are facing a big change now, where everyone will be moving out to the Brunvoll Competense Center at Årø. For me, who grew up in the Production Facilities, I really miss the opportunity to be able to look at and touch new components and products in the factory. When we are all at the same location, it will be easier to make room for such things. Also, our department will be gathered at the same area and on the same floor – and this will be a great improvement for our everyday practice.
