The official opening ceremony of the elevated walkway connecting Brunvoll Competence Center, was held on Friday 1st of July. In fantastic weather, town mayor Torgeir Dahl declared the walkway opened and had the honour of cutting the ribbon.
The bridge name was chosen through a public competition where anyone could submit their favourite name. The top three suggestions were then put into a poll where the public could vote for their favourite. The winning name was uncovered during the opening, and the elevated walkway will be named "Brunvollbrua", in English; “The Brunvoll Bridge”.
Representatives from the Public Roads Administration, Avinor, employee unions and other guests were present at the opening. The event’s special guests were children from Espira Kindergarten and Kviltorp Elementary School, representing the most vulnerable elements in traffic today. They got to be the very first to cross "Brunvollbrua". Everyone was invited inside after the ceremony, for cake and fruits, to the delight of the children.
Terje Dyrseth, CEO of Brunvoll Holding AS, comments; ”We had a fantastic day on Friday, and ”Brunvollbrua” got to shine in the lovely weather. Having the lovely kids here to enrich the opening was absolutely great, and it definitely set the tone for the arrangement. ”Brunvollbrua” is representing the safe way for all of us to be crossing E39, and I have only received great feedback from the public regarding the appearance of the bridge, which is great! The elevated walkway is the result of great collaboration between Brunvoll AS and the Public Roads Administration, and we couldn’t be happier by the result.”
