Brunvoll doubles its electrical production capacity through major investment

In February 2023,  the 21-year-old apprentice Erik Evensen was appointed Supervisor Electrical Assembly at Brunvoll. Now, Erik and his 23 colleagues are looking forward to moving into brand-new facilities, doubling the size of their current space. Brunvoll has recently decided to invest NOK 40 million to renovate and utilise the ground floor of Brunvoll’s headquarters in Molde. The new facilities are planned to be ready in the third quarter of 2025.

The 3,000-square-meter space was previously rented out to external tenants, but when the lease expired this year, Brunvoll decided to use the space to meet its growing needs. We are experiencing significant growth and are planning to increase our capacity to support further expansion in the years ahead. The new facilities will primarily be used for the Electrical Assembly department, a training and testing center for Brunvoll products, and as storage and shelter spaces.

"Moving into our new, modern facilities marks an important step in our growth journey. With nearly double the production space, we'll gain increased production capacity, opportunities to invest in modern equipment, and room for more apprentices. This aligns perfectly with Brunvoll's long-term strategy of local ownership, production, and competence development in Norway," explains Erik Evensen, who Supervisor for the Electrical Assembly department at Brunvoll in Molde.
"The new facilities will provide both more space and better access to natural light, improving the working environment for everyone. Additionally, we'll be closer to the technical department, enhancing collaboration between design and production. This sets a solid foundation for contributing to Brunvoll's ambitious goals and continuing to lead the market in propulsion, positioning, and manoeuvring systems," he concludes.

A training and testing center for Brunvoll has been a high priority for a long time. The company's product portfolio has grown significantly in recent years, increasing the need for training both customers and employees. Erling Myklebust Brunvoll, Service Product Manager for Thruster Design, welcomes the investment.

"A professional training center is crucial for our company to efficiently enhance the skills of our employees, who are our most valuable resource. A well-equipped training center will provide the necessary expertise to maintain the high quality we deliver. Additionally, it will serve as an important venue for courses arranged for our customers. Through effective and professional hands-on training, ship crews using our products will have an easier time with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting," he says.

Erling adds that this will help customers feel more confident using Brunvoll's products, ultimately improving their experience. A positive customer experience, of course, increases the likelihood of future sales.
