Brunvoll - Made in Norway

Brunvoll has a strict and sound strategy, which we willingly promote. The three elements of close co-location, targeted quality products, and larger in-house spares stock are some of what make Brunvoll special.

"We at Brunvoll are focused on precision and quality in everything we do. Having full control of all elements, from our suppliers to the smallest technical detail, is what enables us to provide world-class products and customer service. Norwegian and in-house production is central to reaching our goals," says Kåre Øyvind Vassdal, CEO of Brunvoll.

As one of few companies in Norway, Brunvoll has Norwegian mechanical machining as a core part of the strategy. The business performance is good and Brunvoll keeps on investing in automated machining capacity.

With the base location and factory in Molde, Brunvoll also have locations in Volda, Ålesund, Porsgrunn, and Dalen in Telemark. The close co-location between sales, engineering, project management, service, and production is another central part in the strategy. Close cooperation enables strong teams, rapid improvements, and finding good common solutions across departments.

The engineering force for manoeuvring, propulsion, and positioning is 100% in-house, and all employees are on Norwegian contracts. The Brunvoll expertise covers mechanical engineering, hydrodynamics, electrical and hydraulic engineering, cybernetics, and digitalisation.

To support 75% of value creation being exported and a worldwide customer base, a network of agents for sale and service are found across the globe.

Some of Brunvoll’s core values are precision, quality, and trust. “What you see is what you get”. Building on internal expertise and inspiration through its network, Brunvoll develops standardised and specialised units across several segments.

One example is the shock qualified retractable azimuth thruster developed specially for naval vessels. The thruster can withstand explosions under water and is therefore suitable for frigates and other coastal defence vessels.

A full propulsion, manoeuvring, and positioning package can be provided for a number of vessel types and sizes, by combining Brunvoll's broader range of products.

The third major element in Brunvoll’s strategy is the in-house service and spare parts stock. Moving in the opposite direction of “new public management”, Brunvoll has chosen to strategically store both suppliers' spare parts and own machined parts in-house based on the logged service history related to each product. This way, our products can be supported faster and more accurately than by most other suppliers.

And a factory located closer to an airport than ours is hard to find.

Brunvoll stores both suppliers' parts and own machined parts for rapid service support.
